A trip to Pottenstein youth hostel
On Monday 11th of April 2016 our class did a trip by bus to Pottenstein for three days. At 10.45 a.m. we arrived at the youth hostel in Pottenstein.
On the first day we went hiking to a castle „Burg Pottenstein“. It is near the top of a hill. After a short rest we went on and a little bit later we arrived at the top oft he hill. At the top we saw a big platform and arround of this there were several fireplaces, also on the other hills. They were liton a holy day in January, the Three Kings Day.
On our way we passed a lookout tower „Pottensteiner Himmelsleiter“. Also it was really high, some of us climbed to the top of it and had a great view.
At the second day we started to the „Teufelshöhle“ early in the morning. We visited the cave and there we saw big stalactites. After lunch we walked down to Pottenstein to ride the summer toboggan run. On a little nearby lake we rented a pedalboat. It was a pink duck and we had a lot of fun.
At our third day we went to a cavern named „Hundsloch“. After abseiling into the cavern we explored it by ourself and we had to look for the exit.
To get out of the cavern we crawled through a really narrow gap and so our clothes were rather dirty. But it was great fun. After lunch we went to the climbing area. There we learned climbing in- and outside. We also balanced on a wire-rope and some of us took a roperailway.
This was our last day in Pottenstein and in the evening the bus took us back home.
It was a great trip but unfortunately it was much too short.
